LAND BLESSING
Formally known as a Land Acknowledgement
We offer a Land Acknowledgement for the space we occupy with an understanding that this acceptance of responsibility is the very least we can do. This practice of consistent acknowledgement can generate awareness and support for Indigenous issues and communities. However, it is a small first step that requires little labor and change from the beneficiaries of colonial practices.
Nirvana Yoga currently operates on occupied land. We practice and share yoga on the traditional, ancestral lands of the Mvskoke (Muscogee/Creek) and Cherokee Nations, which extend throughout parts of Alabama, Georgia, Florida, and South Carolina. In this moment, we are called to protect and honor the stories and people of these places and speak the truth of their continued experience.

Nirvana Yoga nor Leigh Anne speak for any Indigenous groups and it is important to go to the source for your inquiries. Tribes are as varied as different nations and are not monolithic. They are diverse and vast with some interwoven threads throughout yet with their own unique and fabulous traditions, customs, and stories.
